A word about the geography of this song: the printed copy you’ll be getting has the first verse on the first page, the second, fourth, and sixth verses on the second page, the third and fifth verses on the third page and the seventh and final verse on the last page. All the verses included a repeat of the “Gloria” section. Be prepared to turn your pages. You’ll notice that the pdf I’ve uploaded to this page has the Gloria repeats but otherwise proceeds in order. That’s mostly because the computer program is a little stupid. If you print out the pdf file you’ll get a lot more paper than the printed version the choir owns.
Two other things to note: the women’s parts in the odd numbered verses seem quite simple but they have an odd rhythmic pattern. Please learn it correctly to start with because once you learn it wrong—I can tell you from experience—you will never get it right again. Also, in the printed version, you’ll see that the audience is invited to sing along with the Glorias on the last verse (they should certainly know the tune by now) and “Choir 1” sings with them. Choir 2 in the meantime is singing four part harmony. I don’t remember exactly how we handled this last time. We’ll have to wait to see what Mary Lee decides. In the meantime, I have just input the Choir 2 parts in this file since I know you have already memorized the Choir 1 part by the time you get to the end of your first listen through.
Trying something new here. I have added lyrics to my musescore file and I am uploading a pdf here so you can start learning the song before we distribute music. Also, if you are away from your score and you have a sudden desire to practice, you’ll have words and music anywhere you can access the internet. It may not look exactly like the printed score you’ll get at rehearsal, but it has all the notes and words.
